The city’s tourist attractions are numerous, from the dozens of museums and art galleries, to the Georgia Aquarium, the biggest indoor aquarium in the world. Visitors to Atlanta can sit alongside the city’s native sports enthusiasts to cheer on any one of the plethora of teams that call Atlanta their home, including the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta’s international airport (ATL) supports the majority of the city’s air traffic. Delta Airlines is one of the biggest employers of Atlanta residents.
Atlanta Mayor Kassim Reed has worked to develop the city’s Midtown district and to reduce the city’s crime level to provide safe streets for Atlanta’s population, which is diverse. In the city proper, roughly 66% are African American, 33% are White, and 2% are Asian. Violent crimes continue to decrease in the city; they dropped by about 10% last year.
