In addition to being the fifth largest city in the state, Durham is also the county seat of Durham County. Durham is home to two major universities, Duke University and North Carolina Central University are both located in Durham.

According to the last census, 45.50% of Durham's inhabitants were White, 43.81% were African American, 3.64% were Asian, and 8.56% of the population was Hispanic. If you are interested in historical places, Durham has many historic sites that you can visit, including Black Wall Street and Bennett Place State Historic Site.
